HP Slide Scanner - HP is an industry leader in digital imaging hardware. Their Photosmart photo printers are among the best for color and clarity. So of course HP would be the one to turn to for a quality slide and negative scanner. However, a stand alone HP slide scanner is getting hard to find. It seems that HP is turning more toward all in one machines. That being said, as an owner of a HP all in one printer/scanner/copier you can't go wrong with those either.
You can still find a stand alone HP Slide scanner at places like Amazon.com. But like I said before, the HP all in one machines do an excellent job with scanning as well as printing and copying.
When it comes to quality imaging, an HP slide scanner will give you fabulous results every time. We will take a look at a couple of their stand alone scanners.

Next we have the HP G4010 ScanJet Photo Scanner. This HP Slide scanner is a pro at scanning everything from t-shirts and magazines to slides and negatives, and of course it scans photos perfectly!
As for scanning slides, this HP slide scanner scans them as well as a professional service would. Capable of scanning five slides at a time, plan on spending about 1 hour scanning 25-30 slides at 600 dpi including prep time. The onboard pre-scan 'Adaptive Lighting' is a great way to correct the overall exposure. The 'Restore Faded Color' does a great photo color restoration including removing the infrared hue from Ektachrome. It is possible to scan an entire group of slides with the same color correction options.
With HP's great reputation you can't go wrong. HP is good to work with if you have problems, even going so far as to provide a replacement if something cannot be fixed. You are buying quality with an HP slid scanner!
Once you decide on the HP slide scanner that best fits your needs, you will be on your way to restoring old slides and negatives. You will be pleased with the results and the money you save doing it yourself!
